Majors Football is the Millsaps College football team, led by Coach Brandon Lechtenberg.Coach Lechtenberg partnered with ELSEWORKS to improve the team’s on-field performance through data analytics and to strengthen the team’s presence on social media, following trends set by other successful football programs and coaches.

This semester, the team worked extensively with Hudl, the team’s video platform, to extract and analyze game stats. Using Excel, R Studio, and AI programs like ChatGPT, the team scrubbed the data to identify trends and visualize key metrics for both self-scout offense and defense, as well as opponent scout offense and defense. These visualizations were designed to be easily interpretable during high-pressure game situations. Key metrics included run/pass analysis by down and personnel, and run/pass analysis by down and field position. Additionally, the team collaborated with Dr. Rawal’s Social Media Marketing class to boost the football team’s online presence. Efforts included producing more Instagram content, creating a TikTok account featuring football-related content, and promoting Coach Lechtenberg’s profile on social media, similar to how many modern coaches enhance their visibility and brand online.

The focus moving forward is to streamline the analytics process for Coach Lechtenberg, providing quicker and more in-depth stats to support strategic decisions during games. The team will also explore additional metrics and enhanced visualizations to further optimize performance insights.
